This paper develops procedures for nonparametric goodness-of-fit testing under covariate shift, where labelled data are drawn from a source population but goodness-of-fit is evaluated for a target population. The distribution mismatch is quantified by either a bounded moment condition or a sub-exponential tail condition on the target-to-source density ratio. Our method combines truncated importance-weighting kernel ridge regression with a multiplier bootstrap to construct confidence sets for the regression function. The truncation stabilizes the importance- weighting kernel ridge regression as well as the bootstrap calibration, making our approach applicable even when the density ratio has heavy tails. We prove nonasymptotic validity and sharpness of the resulting confidence sets under suitable operator compatibility conditions, and establish explicit error rates for coverage probability under specific conditions on the target- to-source density ratio and on the spectral decay of the kernel integral operator. Numerical experiments corroborate our theoretical findings.
核设定检验的数据驱动调参:选择渐近理论、有效性与功效
We develop model checks for conditional moment restrictions whose tuning parameters, the kernel bandwidth and the regularization level, are selected by cross-validation. The tests regress the estimated residuals on the covariates via kernel ridge regression (KRR), yielding a coefficient function in a reproducing kernel Hilbert space (RKHS) that vanishes under the null and is nonzero for any misspecification not annihilated by the Neyman projection. Our central contribution…
用于模型检验的高斯过程方法
This paper proposes a Gaussian process (GP) approach for testing conditional moment restrictions. Tests are based on squared Neyman orthogonal function-parametric processes integrated with respect to a GP distribution. This methodology leads to a general unified framework of kernel-based tests having the following properties: (i) bootstrap tests are easy to implement in the presence of nuisance parameters (they are simple quadratic forms, and there is no need to reestimate…

This paper studies the Gaussian and bootstrap approximations for the probabilities of a nondegenerate U-statistic belonging to the hyperrectangles in $\mathbb{R}^{d}$ when the dimension $d$ is large. A two-step Gaussian approximation procedure that does not impose structural assumptions on the data distribution is proposed. Subject to mild moment conditions on the kernel, we establish the explicit rate of convergence uniformly in the class of all hyperrectangles in $\mathbb{R}^{d}$…
半参数与非参数条件矩模型的筛法 Wald 与 QLR 推断
This paper considers inference on functionals of semi/nonparametric conditional moment restrictions with possibly nonsmooth generalized residuals, which include all of the (nonlinear) nonparametric instrumental variables (IV) as special cases. These models are often ill-posed and hence it is difficult to verify whether a (possibly nonlinear) functional is root-n estimable or not. We provide computationally simple, unified inference procedures that are asymptotically valid…

残差可能不光滑的半参数条件矩模型的有效估计
This paper considers semiparametric efficient estimation of conditional moment models with possibly nonsmooth residuals in unknown parametric components ([theta]) and unknown functions (h) of endogenous variables. We show that: (1) the penalized sieve minimum distance (PSMD) estimator can simultaneously achieve root-n asymptotic normality of and nonparametric optimal convergence rate of , allowing for noncompact function parameter spaces; (2) a simple weighted bootstrap…
