Summary This paper estimates a hedonic housing model based on flats sold in the city of Paris over the period 1990–2003. This is done using maximum likelihood estimation, taking into account the nested structure of the data. Paris is historically divided into 20 arrondissements , each divided into four quartiers (quarters), which in turn contain between 15 and 169 blocks ( îlot , in French) per quartier . This is an unbalanced pseudo‒panel data containing 156,896 transactions. Despite the richness of the data, many neighborhood characteristics are not observed, and we attempt to capture these neighborhood spillover effects using a spatial lag model. Using likelihood ratio tests, we find significant spatial lag effects as well as significant nested random error effects. The empirical results show that the hedonic housing estimates and the corresponding marginal effects are affected by taking into account the nested aspects of the Paris housing data as well as the spatial neighborhood effects.Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
网络辅助的高维因子模型估计
This article takes advantage of group-level heterogeneity and network cohesion phenomenon to improve the estimation accuracy of approximate factor models. As large heterogeneous panels become available, a grouped pattern of unobserved heterogeneity in the panel data is highlighted. Clustering of factor loadings provides a solution to model group-level heterogeneity. Moreover, networks are frequently observed in economics and finance, which capture the interconnectivity…
真正非平衡动态网络面板模型的准最大似然估计
This paper develops a quasi-maximum likelihood estimator for genuinely unbalanced dynamic network panel data models with individual fixed effects. We propose a model that accommodates contemporaneous and lagged network spillovers, temporal dependence, and a listing effect that activates upon a unit's first appearance in the panel. We establish the consistency of the QMLE as both $N$ and $T$ go to infinity, derive its asymptotic distribution, and identify an asymptotic bias…

We develop a Lagrange Multiplier (LM) test of neglected heterogeneity in dyadic models. The test statistic is derived by modifying Breusch and Pagan (1980)’s test. We establish the asymptotic distribution of the test statistic under the null using a novel martingale construction. We also consider the power of the LM test in generic panel models. Even though the test is motivated by random effects, we show that it has a power for detecting fixed effects as well. Finally, we…
含内生主导单元的非线性空间动态面板模型:份额数据应用
This article develops a nonlinear spatial dynamic panel data model with one particularly interesting application to a structural interaction model for share data. To account for effects from dominant (popular) units, the spatial weights matrix in our model can allow for unbounded column sums. To account for heterogeneity, our model includes two-way fixed effects and heteroscedastic errors. We further consider the potential endogeneity of the spatial weight matrix constructed…
降秩时空模型
To simultaneously model the cross-sectional dependency and dynamic time dependency among n units, most research in spatial econometrics parameterizes the coefficient matrices among the n units as functions of known weights matrices. This modeling framework is over-simplified and faces the risk of misspecification when constructing the weights matrices. In this article, we propose a novel reduced-rank spatio-temporal model by assuming the coefficient matrices follow a…
三维面板二元 Logit 模型的去偏固定效应估计
Naive maximum likelihood estimation of binary logit models with fixed effects leads to unreliable inference due to the incidental parameter problem. We study the case of three-dimensional panel data, where the model includes three sets of additive and overlapping unobserved effects. This encompasses models for network panel data, where senders and receivers maintain bilateral relationships over time, and fixed effects account for unobserved heterogeneity at the sender-time,…
