In this paper, we propose a consistent nonparametric test for linearity in a large dimensional panel data model with interactive fixed effects. Both lagged dependent variables and conditional heteroskedasticity of unknown form are allowed in the model. We estimate the model under the null hypothesis of linearity to obtain the restricted residuals which are then used to construct the test statistic. We show that after being appropriately centered and standardized, the test statistic is asymptotically normally distributed under both the null hypothesis and a sequence of Pitman local alternatives by using the concept of conditional strong mixing that was recently introduced by Prakasa Rao (2009). To improve the finite sample performance, we propose a bootstrap procedure to obtain the bootstrap p-value. A small set of Monte Carlo simulations illustrates that our test performs well in finite samples. An application to an economic growth panel dataset indicates significant nonlinear relationships between economic growth, initial income level and capital accumulation.
交互固定效应面板模型中的同质性检验
This paper proposes a residual-based Lagrange Multiplier (LM) test for slope homogeneity in large-dimensional panel data models with interactive fixed effects. We first run the panel regression under the null to obtain the restricted residuals and then use them to construct our LM test statistic. We show that after being appropriately centered and scaled, our test statistic is asymptotically normally distributed under the null and a sequence of Pitman local alternatives. The…
交互固定效应面板模型的投影估计方法
This paper introduces a straightforward sieve-based approach for estimating and conducting inference on regression parameters in panel data models with interactive fixed effects. The method's key assumption is that factor loadings can be decomposed into an unknown smooth function of individual characteristics plus an idiosyncratic error term. Our estimator offers advantages over existing approaches by taking a simple partial least squares form, eliminating the need for…
含个体、时间及交互效应的短期动态面板模型
Summary This paper proposes a transformed quasi‐maximum likelihood (TQML) estimator for short dynamic fixed effects panel data models allowing for interactive effects through a multifactor error structure. The proposed estimator is robust to the heterogeneity of the initial values and common unobserved effects, while at the same time allowing for standard fixed and time effects. It is applicable to both stationary and unit root cases. The order condition for identification…
交互固定效应面板中潜在组结构的收缩估计与识别
This paper provides a framework for joint shrinkage estimation and identification of latent group structures in panel data models with interactive fixed effects and large number of explanatory variables. The latent structure of the model allows individuals to be classified into a number of groups where the number of groups and/or each individual’s group identity are unknown. A doubly penalized principal component estimation procedure using a pairwise fusion penalty and an…
交互效应异质性空间动态面板模型的IV估计
This paper develops a Mean Group Instrumental Variables (MGIV) approach for spatial dynamic panel data models with interactive effects, under large N and T asymptotics. Unlike existing approaches that typically impose slope-parameter homogeneity, MGIV accommodates cross-sectional heterogeneity in slope coefficients. The proposed estimator is linear, making it computationally efficient and robust. Furthermore, it enables asymptotically valid inferences without requiring bias…
含交互固定效应的固定 T 面板门槛回归
This paper develops a new toolbox for estimation and inference in panel data threshold regression models with interactive fixed effects and a fixed number of time periods, T. The toolbox is designed to be simple, accurate and computationally efficient. It is based on a simple least squares style estimator of the model parameters, and includes a number of inferential procedures for testing hypotheses regarding not only the threshold but also other parameters. The new toolbox…
