Geodesic difference-in-differences

测地线双重差分

Summary Difference-in-differences (DID) is a widely used quasi-experimental design for causal inference, traditionally applied to scalar or Euclidean outcomes, while extensions to outcomes residing in non-Euclidean spaces remain limited. Existing methods for such outcomes have primarily focused on univariate distributions, leveraging linear operations in the space of quantile functions, but these approaches cannot be directly extended to outcomes in general metric spaces. In…

Empirical likelihood for manifolds

流形数据的经验似然

Abstract There has been growing interest in statistical analysis of random objects taking values in a non-Euclidean metric space. One important class of such objects consists of data on manifolds. This article is concerned with inference on the Fréchet mean and related population objects on manifolds. We develop the concept of nonparametric likelihood for data on manifolds and propose general inference methods by adapting the theory of empirical likelihood. In addition to…

Nonparametric Causal Inference with Functional Covariates

具有函数型协变量的非参数因果推断

Functional data and their analysis have become increasingly popular in various fields of data science. This paper considers estimation and inference of the average treatment effect under unconfoundedness when the covariates involve a functional variable, and proposes the inverse probability weighting estimator, where the propensity score is estimated by utilizing a kernel estimator for functional variables. We establish the n-consistency and asymptotic normality of the…

Shrinkage methods for treatment choice

处理选择中的收缩方法

This study examines the problem of determining whether to treat individuals based on observed covariates. The most common decision rule is the conditional empirical success (CES) rule proposed by Manski (2004), which assigns individuals to treatments that yield the best experimental outcomes conditional on the observed covariates. Conversely, using shrinkage estimators, which shrink unbiased but noisy preliminary estimates toward the average of these estimates, is a common…

SUBSAMPLING INFERENCE FOR NONPARAMETRIC EXTREMAL CONDITIONAL QUANTILES

非参数极端条件分位数的子抽样推断

This paper proposes a subsampling inference method for extreme conditional quantiles based on a self-normalized version of a local estimator for conditional quantiles, such as the local linear quantile regression estimator. The proposed method circumvents difficulty of estimating nuisance parameters in the limiting distribution of the local estimator. A simulation study and empirical example illustrate usefulness of our subsampling inference to investigate extremal phenomena.

Gaussian Approximation and Spatially Dependent Wild Bootstrap for High-Dimensional Spatial Data

高维空间数据的高斯逼近与空间相依野生自助法

In this article, we establish a high-dimensional CLT for the sample mean of p-dimensional spatial data observed over irregularly spaced sampling sites in Rd, allowing the dimension p to be much larger than the sample size n. We adopt a stochastic sampling scheme that can generate irregularly spaced sampling sites in a flexible manner and include both pure increasing domain and mixed increasing domain frameworks. To facilitate statistical inference, we develop the spatially…

ON THE UNIFORM CONVERGENCE OF DECONVOLUTION ESTIMATORS FROM REPEATED MEASUREMENTS

基于重复测量的反卷积估计量的一致收敛

This paper studies the uniform convergence rates of Li and Vuong’s (1998, Journal of Multivariate Analysis 65, 139–165; hereafter LV) nonparametric deconvolution estimator and its regularized version by Comte and Kappus (2015, Journal of Multivariate Analysis 140, 31–46) for the classical measurement error model, where repeated noisy measurements on the error-free variable of interest are available. In contrast to LV, our assumptions allow unbounded supports for the…

Inference on distribution functions under measurement error

测量误差下的分布函数推断

This paper is concerned with inference on the cumulative distribution function (cdf) FX∗ in the classical measurement error model X=X∗+ϵ. We consider the case where the density of the measurement error ϵ is unknown and estimated by repeated measurements, and show validity of a bootstrap approximation for the distribution of the deviation in the sup-norm between the deconvolution cdf estimator and FX∗. We allow the density of ϵ to be ordinary or super smooth. We also provide…
