SUMMARY Financial time series are often non‐negative‐valued (volumes, trades, durations, realized volatility, daily range) and exhibit clustering. When joint dynamics is of interest, the vector multiplicative error model (vMEM; the element‐by‐element product of a vector of conditionally autoregressive scale factors and a multivariate i.i.d. innovation process) is a suitable strategy. Its parameters can be estimated by generalized method of moments, bypassing the problem of specifying a multivariate distribution for the errors. Simulated results show the gains in efficiency relative to an equation‐by‐equation approach. A vMEM on several measures of volatility justifies a joint approach revealing full interdependence. 波动率泛函的时不变限制:有效估计与设定检验
This paper studies the estimation and inference problems of time-invariant restrictions on certain known functions of the stochastic volatility process. We first develop a more efficient GMM estimator and derive the efficiency bound under such restrictions. Then we construct an integrated Hausman-type test by summing up the squared differences between this more efficient estimator and the unrestricted estimator computed at different time points. Although less efficient under…
高频数据的广义积分矩方法
We propose a semiparametric two‐step inference procedure for a finite‐dimensional parameter based on moment conditions constructed from high‐frequency data. The population moment conditions take the form of temporally integrated functionals of state‐variable processes that include the latent stochastic volatility process of an asset. In the first step, we nonparametrically recover the volatility path from high‐frequency asset returns. The nonparametric volatility estimator…
含噪观测下二次协变差矩阵的估计:局部矩方法与效率
An efficient estimator is constructed for the quadratic covariation or integrated co-volatility matrix of a multivariate continuous martingale based on noisy and nonsynchronous observations under high-frequency asymptotics. Our approach relies on an asymptotically equivalent continuous-time observation model where a local generalised method of moments in the spectral domain turns out to be optimal. Asymptotic semi-parametric efficiency is established in the Cramér–Rao sense.…
非平稳波动环境下股票收益可预测性的实时监测
Stock return predictability, should it exist, is likely to be episodic in nature. In order to exploit such pockets of predictability it is essential that they are rapidly detected, in real-time, as the nascent predictive regime emerges. This will typically entail the repeated (sequential) application of one-shot end-of-sample predictability statistics, updated as new data become available. Consequently, in addition to dealing with the usual inference problems caused by…
利用多分位数稳健检验多变量波动率的结构变化
We propose an omnibus nonparametric test for structural changes in the multivariate volatility matrix. The test aggregates bounded generalized quantile scores over a range of quantile levels and has a weighted leave-$q$-out $U$-statistic representation. Deleting nearby index pairs renders the centering effect induced by serial dependence asymptotically negligible. All quantities required for implementation, including the variance estimator used for standardization, are…
多变量波动率结构变化的符号检验
This paper proposes sign-based CUSUM and QS tests for structural changes in multivariate volatility using least absolute deviation (LAD) regression. These tests offer the advantage of relaxing moment conditions and providing greater robustness against various heavy-tailed innovations. To address potential power losses in the two basic statistics due to inaccurate estimation of the long-run variance (LRV) under alternatives, the paper then proposes two modified statistics…
