Over the last decade, nonparametric methods have gained increasing attention for modeling complex data structures due to their flexibility and minimal structural assumptions. In this paper, we study a general multivariate nonparametric regression framework that encompasses a broad class of parametric models commonly used in financial econometrics. Both the response and the covariate processes are allowed to be multivariate with fixed finite dimensions, and the framework accommodates temporal dependence, thereby introducing additional modeling and theoretical hurdles. To address these challenges, we adopt a functional dependence structure which permits flexible dynamic behavior while maintaining tractable asymptotic analysis. Within this setting, we establish strong and weak convergence results for the estimators of the conditional mean and volatility functions. In addition, we investigate conditional geometric quantiles in the multivariate time series context and prove their consistency under mild regularity conditions. The finite sample performance is examined through comprehensive simulation studies, and the methodology is illustrated by modeling the stock returns of Maersk and Lockheed Martin as a nonparametric function of a geopolitical risk index.

The association between log-price increments of exchange-traded equities, as measured by their spot correlation estimated from high-frequency data, exhibits a pronounced upwardsloping and almost piecewise linear relationship at the intraday horizon. There is notably lower—on average less positive—correlation in the morning than in the afternoon. We develop a nonparametric testing procedure to detect such variation in a correlation process. The test statistic has a known…

Stock return predictability, should it exist, is likely to be episodic in nature. In order to exploit such pockets of predictability it is essential that they are rapidly detected, in real-time, as the nascent predictive regime emerges. This will typically entail the repeated (sequential) application of one-shot end-of-sample predictability statistics, updated as new data become available. Consequently, in addition to dealing with the usual inference problems caused by…

Conformal prediction provides distribution-free prediction intervals under exchangeability, but many modern data streams are neither independent nor stable. They exhibit recurring regimes, changing seasonal frequencies, abrupt shifts, and gradual drift. We propose drift-aware spectral conformal prediction (DASC), a streaming uncertainty quantification framework for structured non-exchangeable data subject to distributional drift. DASC forms conformal prediction intervals…
非线性模型时变参数的局部多项式估计
We develop a novel asymptotic theory for local polynomial extremum estimators of time-varying parameters in a broad class of nonlinear time-series models, including discrete-valued ones. We show that the proposed estimators are asymptotically normally distributed under weak conditions. We also provide a precise characterization of the leading bias term due to smoothing. We demonstrate the usefulness of our general results by establishing primitive conditions for local…

We explore how information from covariates can be incorporated into the CUSUM-based real-time monitoring procedure for explosive asset price bubbles developed in Homm and Breitung (2012, Journal of Financial Econometrics 10, 198–231). Where dynamic covariates are present in the data generating process (DGP), the false positive rate (FPR) of the basic CUSUM procedure, which is based on the assumption that prices follow a univariate DGP, under the null of no explosivity will…
网络依赖时间序列的频域分析:全球银行关联应用
Financial spillovers in interconnected systems, such as global banking networks, require tools that capture temporal and frequency dynamics, while incorporating the underlying network topology. While current network time series models are developed in the time-domain, frequency-domain approaches, which reveal how cross-nodal dependencies vary across different cycles, remain under-explored. This paper develops a spectral analysis framework that accommodates flexible forms of…
