Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) are central to uncovering causal structure in complex systems, yet learning a single DAG from data is often challenging: model uncertainty, finite samples, and a combinatorially large search space frequently yield unstable estimates. We propose DAGgr, a model averaging framework that aggregates multiple candidate DAGs into a single stable representation. Candidate graphs are weighted by their out-of-sample predictive likelihood across repeated data splits, and a thresholding rule on the resulting edge-importance scores guarantees that the aggregated graph is itself acyclic. We establish a finite-sample risk bound, prove that the procedure preserves acyclicity, and show that edge selection is consistent under mild conditions on the weights. Simulations across random, hub, and chain structures, together with an analysis of the Sachs et al. (2005) protein-signaling network, show that DAGgr matches or exceeds the best individual candidate while consistently outperforming bootstrap-aggregation baselines across structural recovery metrics.
Estimating causal effects is challenging with observational data due to the lack of exchangeability, and is further complicated with spatial data. In real-life applications such as agricultural and environmental studies, unobserved spatial factors (spatial confounding, SC) and interactions of units in nearby locations (spatial interference, SI) commonly occur jointly, yet existing parametric methods address them separately. We develop a unified framework that treats both…
Regression discontinuity designs (RDDs) are widely used for causal inference in observational studies with cutoff-based treatment assignment, primarily for Euclidean outcomes. We propose the geodesic regression discontinuity design (GRDD), which extends RDDs to complex non-Euclidean outcomes, including networks, compositional data, functional data, and other random objects in geodesic metric spaces. Since algebraic operations are unavailable in such spaces, we define the…
Analysis of experimental data becomes challenging when the underlying population is connected by a network. Exposure mapping is a common tool in the literature for defining and estimating spillover effects. These mappings reduce the dimensionality of the estimand, thereby facilitating identifiability. It is assumed that this mapping is correctly specified, leaving the choice of the exposure mapping to the analyst. This makes estimators of the spillover effect, such as the…
Neural survival models are increasingly asked to support counterfactual claims---how much a treatment would change survival in a population---rather than only prognostic risk scores. Answering such questions from observational data requires valid inference for treatment-specific survival contrasts under confounding and covariate-dependent censoring, targets for which standard deep survival estimators are biased and provide no honest uncertainty. We propose Targeted Deep…
This article evaluates whether the exceptionally rapid growth of the Russian and Soviet economy after 1928 requires a specifically Stalinist explanation. The analysis treats this historical question as a sequence of increasingly demanding counterfactual comparisons rather than a binary comparison between observed growth and a single alternative. Long run output series from the Global Macro Database and the Maddison Project are combined with synthetic control, augmented…
We study model risk in machine-learning estimation of the Distributional Instrumental Variable Local Average Treatment Effect (D-IV-LATE), the distributional IV effect for the subpopulation induced into treatment by the instrument. The contribution is not a new neural causal estimand. We implement a reduced-form orthogonal level-score DML estimator for the covariate-adjusted D-IV-LATE target and use it to ask how much the nuisance learner matters for distributional IV…
