This paper provides statistical inference for marginal expected shortfall (MES) and delta conditional value-at-risk (ΔCoVaR) measures, which are semiparametrically estimated by a two-step procedure in a multivariate GARCH-type framework. We establish the asymptotic properties of corresponding estimators and illustrate how the estimation uncertainty can be decomposed into dynamic univariate marginal and time-varying dependence components. Our methodology reveals good finite sample performance for estimation and prediction of risk. Moreover, we propose tests for differences in systemic risk in order to construct confidence sets for companies’ ranks in systemic risk rankings. In an empirical application based on 50 large US financial institutions, our framework provides novel evidence on the informativeness of such rankings. Moreover, our findings highlight the importance of accounting for time-varying return dependence in systemic risk estimators.

Estimating time-varying correlation matrices is challenging because existing methods may adapt slowly to structural changes, impose insufficient regularization, or produce diffuse posterior uncertainty. In moderate dimensions, an additional difficulty is summarizing the estimated evolving dependence structure for downstream decision-making tasks. We propose a Bayesian approach based on a low-rank factor representation, with latent states evolving under a dynamic shrinkage…
网络依赖时间序列的频域分析:全球银行关联应用
Financial spillovers in interconnected systems, such as global banking networks, require tools that capture temporal and frequency dynamics, while incorporating the underlying network topology. While current network time series models are developed in the time-domain, frequency-domain approaches, which reveal how cross-nodal dependencies vary across different cycles, remain under-explored. This paper develops a spectral analysis framework that accommodates flexible forms of…
尾部与非尾部记忆:极值及稳健统计的应用
New notions of tail and nontail dependence are used to characterize separately extremal and nonextremal information, including tail log-exceedances and events, and tail-trimmed levels. We prove that near epoch dependence (McLeish, 1975; Gallant and White, 1988) and L 0 -approximability (Pötscher and Prucha, 1991) are equivalent for tail events and tail-trimmed levels, ensuring a Gaussian central limit theory for important extreme value and robust statistics under general…
面向非平稳时间序列的自适应 Student t 分布与移动矩估计
The real life time series are usually nonstationary, bringing a difficult question of model adaptation. Classical approaches like ARMA-ARCH assume arbitrary type of dependence. To avoid their bias, we will focus on recently proposed agnostic philosophy of moving estimator: in time $t$ finding parameters optimizing e.g. $F_t=\sum_{τ<t} (1-η)^{t-τ} \ln(ρ_θ(x_τ))$ moving log-likelihood, evolving in time. It allows for example to estimate parameters using inexpensive exponential…
异方差数据的时间序列Copula模型
Summary We propose parametric copulas that capture serial dependence in stationary heteroskedastic time series. We suggest copulas for first‐order Markov series, and then extend them to higher orders and multivariate series. We derive the copula of a volatility proxy, based on which we propose new measures of volatility dependence, including co‐movement and spillover in multivariate series. In general, these depend upon the marginal distributions of the series. Using…

This paper develops a daily structural VAR for identifying oil price shocks from conditional heteroskedasticity and quantifies the transmission of their timevarying uncertainty. Identification exploits volatility clustering and spillovers in a structural GARCH specification and the complete identified set is derived. We derive covariance impulse response functions and introduce a time-varying forecast error variance decomposition (TV-FEVD) that allows for a decomposition of…
