Summary Estimating equations which are not necessarily likelihood-based score equations are becoming increasingly popular for estimating regression model parameters. This paper is concerned with estimation based on general estimating equations when true covariate data are missing for all the study subjects, but surrogate or mismeasured covariates are available instead. The method is motivated by the covariate measurement error problem in marginal or partly conditional regression of longitudinal data. We propose to base estimation on the expectation of the complete data estimating equation conditioned on available data. The regression parameters and other nuisance parameters are estimated simultaneously by solving the resulting estimating equations. The expected estimating equation (EEE) estimator is equal to the maximum likelihood estimator if the complete data scores are likelihood scores and conditioning is with respect to all the available data. A pseudo-EEE estimator, which requires less computation, is also investigated. Asymptotic distribution theory is derived. Small sample simulations are conducted when the error process is an order 1 autoregressive model. Regression calibration is extended to this setting and compared with the EEE approach. We demonstrate the methods on data from a longitudinal study of the relationship between childhood growth and adult obesity.
具有高阶自回归误差的面板 Beta 回归联合条件极大似然估计
Existing panel beta regression estimators do not accommodate higher-order autoregressive dependence within a joint likelihood framework. We develop such an estimator: a joint conditional maximum-likelihood beta-AR(k) model extended from a single time series to panel data, and extend it to panel inference through two new covariance estimators - a generalization of Beck-Katz panel-corrected standard errors (PCSE) and a Driscoll-Kraay-style alternative (DK) - to account for the…
区域组成数据的时空自回归模型
Compositional data, such as regional shares of economic sectors or property transactions, are central to understanding structural change in economic systems across space and time. This paper introduces a spatiotemporal multivariate autoregressive model tailored for panel data with composition-valued responses at each areal unit and time point. The proposed framework enables the joint modelling of temporal dynamics and spatial dependence under compositional constraints, and…

In this paper we consider two generalizations of Lancaster's (Review of Economic Studies, 2002) Modified Maximum Likelihood estimator (MMLE) for the panel AR(1) model with fixed effects, arbitrary initial conditions, and strictly exogenous covariates when the time dimension of the panel, T, is fixed. When the autoregressive parameter rho=1, the limiting modified profile log-likelihood function for this model has a stationary point of inflection, and rho is first-order…

Maximum Likelihood (ML) offers attractive alternatives to Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimators for dynamic panel data models. However, to date no identification-robust inference methods exist that can be used in conjunction with the ML estimators for these models. In this paper we propose ML based inference methods for panel AR(1) models with arbitrary initial conditions and heteroskedasticity that are robust to the strength of identification. We show that (Quasi)…
含结构变化的空间面板数据模型
Spatial panel data models have gained widespread application in social sciences, particularly in economics, due to their ability to capture spatial dependencies. However, existing studies on spatial models typically rely on the assumption of parameter stability, which may be overly restrictive given the well-documented prevalence of structural changes in economic relationships. This paper addresses this limitation by proposing and analyzing spatial panel data models that…
含个体、时间及交互效应的短期动态面板模型
Summary This paper proposes a transformed quasi‐maximum likelihood (TQML) estimator for short dynamic fixed effects panel data models allowing for interactive effects through a multifactor error structure. The proposed estimator is robust to the heterogeneity of the initial values and common unobserved effects, while at the same time allowing for standard fixed and time effects. It is applicable to both stationary and unit root cases. The order condition for identification…
