A connexion is identified between maximum likelihood paired-comparison ranking and the problem of quadratic assignment discussed in the operational research literature. This relationship immediately gives a set of computational techniques for obtaining the necessary rankings, and, in addition, provides a general framework for testing the reasonableness of particular object sequencings suggested a priori.
扰动效用模型的 Fenchel–Young 估计量
Perturbed Utility Models (PUMs) represent discrete choice as utility maximization under convex perturbation or regularization, encompassing a broad class of choice models, including Multinomial Logit (MNL) and models that permit zero choice probabilities. Because, for general perturbations, maximum likelihood may be non-convex, and the negative log-likelihood is infinite when a sparse model assigns zero probability to an observed choice, we specialize the Fenchel--Young…
结合协变量与稀疏内在得分的实体排序
This paper addresses the item ranking problem with associated covariates, focusing on scenarios where the preference scores can not be fully explained by covariates, and the remaining intrinsic scores are sparse. Specifically, we extend the pioneering Bradley-Terry-Luce (BTL) model by incorporating covariate information and considering sparse individual intrinsic scores. Our work introduces novel model identification conditions and examines the statistical rates of the…
带动态协变量的统计排序
Abstract We introduce a general covariate-assisted statistical ranking model within the Plackett–Luce framework. Unlike previous studies that focus on individual effects with fixed covariates, our model allows covariates to vary across comparisons. This added flexibility enhances model fitting but also brings significant challenges in analysis. This article addresses these challenges in the context of maximum likelihood estimation (MLE). We first provide necessary and…

带协变量的实体排序:极大似然估计的不确定性量化
This paper concerns with statistical estimation and inference for the ranking problems based on pairwise comparisons with additional covariate information such as the attributes of the compared items. Despite extensive studies, few prior literatures investigate this problem under the more realistic setting where covariate information exists. To tackle this issue, we propose a novel model, Covariate-Assisted Ranking Estimation (CARE) model, that extends the well-known…
Summary I derive simple, flexible strategies for difference-in-differences settings where the nature of the response variable may warrant a nonlinear model. I allow for general staggered interventions, with and without covariates. Under an index version of parallel trends, I show that average treatment effects on the treated (ATTs) are identified for each cohort and calendar time period in which a cohort was subjected to the intervention. The pooled quasi-maximum likelihood…
