We consider a common correlated effects estimator for panel quantile regression models featuring heterogeneous slope coefficients and interactive fixed effects. Using convolution smoothing to facilitate the derivation of asymptotic properties, our method allows the number of time periods (T) to grow at a much slower rate than the number of cross-sectional units (N). We establish that the mean group estimator converges to a limiting normal distribution, which may have a nonzero mean in our asymptotic framework. To address biases from the smoothed objective function and a relatively small T, we introduce a two-step bias correction procedure. Monte Carlo simulations demonstrate the method’s validity in finite samples, and we apply it to analyze the sharp rise in demand for high-skilled workers in U.S. manufacturing.
异质动态面板分位数回归模型的共同相关效应估计
Summary This paper proposes a quantile regression estimator for a heterogeneous panel model with lagged dependent variables and interactive effects. The paper adopts the Common Correlated Effects (CCE) approach proposed in the literature and demonstrates that the extension to the estimation of dynamic quantile regression models is feasible under similar conditions to the ones used in the literature. The new quantile regression estimator is shown to be consistent and its…
含交互效应的动态空间分位数模型的贝叶斯推断
With the rapid advancement of information technology and data collection systems, large-scale spatial panel data presents new methodological and computational challenges. This paper introduces a dynamic spatial panel quantile model that incorporates unobserved heterogeneity. The proposed model captures the dynamic structure of panel data, high-dimensional cross-sectional dependence, and allows for heterogeneous regression coefficients. To estimate the model, we propose a…
低秩面板分位数回归:估计与推断
In this paper, we propose a class of low-rank panel quantile regression models which allow for unobserved slope heterogeneity over both individuals and time. We estimate the heterogeneous intercept and slope matrices via nuclear norm regularization followed by sample splitting, row- and column-wise quantile regressions and debiasing. We show that the estimators of the factors and factor loadings associated with the intercept and slope matrices are asymptotically normally…
含交互固定效应的分位数面板模型两步估计
This paper considers the estimation of panel data models with interactive fixed effects where the idiosyncratic errors are subject to conditional quantile restrictions. An easy-to-implement two-step estimator is proposed for the coefficients of the observed regressors. In the first step, the principal component analysis is applied to the cross-sectional averages of the regressors to estimate the latent factors. In the second step, the smoothed quantile regression is used to…
含不可观测异质性的空间面板分位数模型
This paper introduces a spatial panel quantile model with unobserved heterogeneity. The proposed model is capable of capturing high-dimensional cross-sectional dependence and allows heterogeneous regression coefficients. For estimating model parameters, a new estimation procedure is proposed. When both the time and cross-sectional dimensions of the panel go to infinity, the uniform consistency and the asymptotic normality of the estimated parameters are established. In order…
交互效应分位数回归模型的估计与检验
This paper proposes a quantile regression estimator for a model with interactive effects potentially correlated with covariates. We provide conditions under which the estimator is asymptotically Gaussian and we investigate the finite sample performance of the method. An approach to testing the specification against a competing fixed effects specification is introduced. The paper presents an application to study the effect of class size and composition on educational…
