This paper develops a flexible and computationally efficient multivariate volatility model that accommodates dynamic conditional correlations and volatility spillover effects among financial assets. The new model has desirable properties such as identifiability and computational tractability for many assets.A sufficient condition for strict stationarity is derived for the process. Two quasi-maximum likelihood estimation methods are proposed for the new model without and with low-rank constraints on the coefficient matrices, respectively, and the asymptotic properties of both estimators are established. Moreover, a selection-consistent Bayesian information criterion is developed for order selection, and testing for volatility spillover effects is discussed. The finite-sample performance of the proposed methodology is evaluated in simulations for small and moderate dimensions. Its usefulness and inference tools are illustrated by two empirical examples for 5 stock markets and 17 industry portfolios.

Modeling high-dimensional time series with simple structures is a challenging problem. This paper proposes a network double autoregression (NDAR) model, which combines the advantages of network structure and the double autoregression (DAR) model, to handle high-dimensional, conditionally heteroscedastic, and network-structured data within a simple framework. The parameters of the model are estimated using quasi-maximum likelihood estimation, and the asymptotic properties of…

This paper develops a daily structural VAR for identifying oil price shocks from conditional heteroskedasticity and quantifies the transmission of their timevarying uncertainty. Identification exploits volatility clustering and spillovers in a structural GARCH specification and the complete identified set is derived. We derive covariance impulse response functions and introduce a time-varying forecast error variance decomposition (TV-FEVD) that allows for a decomposition of…
Tensor-BEKK:张量时间序列的条件协方差建模与推断
Modern economic and financial data are increasingly organized as multiway arrays, with observations indexed simultaneously by geographic regions, industrial sectors, asset categories, and other economic characteristics. Representing such data as tensor-valued time series preserves their intrinsic multiway structure. Although substantial effort has been devoted to modeling the conditional mean of tensor-valued time series, comparatively less attention has been paid to their…

Stock market indices are volatile by nature, and sudden shocks are known to affect volatility patterns. The autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (ARCH) and generalized ARCH (GARCH) models neglect structural breaks triggered by sudden shocks that may lead to an overestimation of persistence, causing an upward bias in the estimates. Different regime-switching models that have abrupt regime-switching governed by a Markov chain were developed to model volatility in…

Ergodic theorem shows that ergodic averages of the posterior draws converge in probability to the posterior mean under the stationarity assumption. The literature also shows that the posterior distribution is asymptotically normal when the sample size of the original data considered goes to infinity. To the best of our knowledge, there is little discussion on the large sample behaviour of the posterior mean. In this paper, we aim to fill this gap. In particular, we extend…

Many statistical applications involve models for which it is difficult to evaluate the likelihood, but from which it is relatively easy to sample. Approximate Bayesian computation is a likelihood-free method for implementing Bayesian inference in such cases. We present results on the asymptotic variance of estimators obtained using approximate Bayesian computation in a large data limit. Our key assumption is that the data are summarized by a fixed-dimensional summary…
