We consider consistent tests for stochastic dominance efficiency at any order of a given portfolio with respect to all possible portfolios constructed from a set of assets. We justify block bootstrap approaches to achieve valid inference in a time series setting. The test statistics are computed using linear and mixed integer programming formulations. Monte Carlo results show that the bootstrap procedure performs well in finite samples. The empirical application reveals that the Fama and French market portfolio is first and second-order stochastic dominance efficient, although it is mean–variance inefficient.
通过课程学习与耦合 PINN 为 Heston 模型下的美式期权定价
In American options, the early exercise feature allows the option to be exercised at any time prior to expiration. However, this flexibility introduces a challenge: the pricing model must value the option while simultaneously determining an unknown, time-varying exercise boundary. The Heston model is one of the most popular ways to model real market behavior because it allows volatility to change over time. However, unlike European options, there is no closed-form solution…
资产定价中机器学习预测的不确定性
Machine learning in asset pricing typically predicts expected returns as point estimates, ignoring uncertainty. We develop new methods to construct forecast confidence intervals for expected returns obtained from neural networks. We show that neural network forecasts of expected returns share the same asymptotic distribution as classic nonparametric methods, enabling a closed-form expression for their standard errors. We also propose a computationally feasible bootstrap to…

We study bootstrap methods for fund performance evaluation. We first show that two prominent bootstrap tests have biased test sizes in a large cross-section with short time series and lack test power to detect skilled funds when a substantial number of unskilled funds are present. We then develop the theory for a valid bootstrap Hotelling’s T-squared test for zero alpha. We apply the proposed bootstrap test in a practical two-step procedure to identify skilled funds. Our…
横截面相关下的错误发现率控制
We consider controlling the false discovery rate for testing many time series with an unknown cross-sectional correlation structure. Given a large number of hypotheses, false and missing discoveries can plague an analysis. While many procedures have been proposed to control false discovery, most of them either assume independent hypotheses or lack statistical power. A problem of particular interest is in financial asset pricing, where the goal is to determine which…
Markowitz 随机占优的张成检验
We derive properties of the cdf of random variables defined as saddle-type points of real valued continuous stochastic processes. This facilitates the derivation of the first-order asymptotic properties of tests for stochastic spanning given some stochastic dominance relation. We define the concept of Markowitz stochastic dominance spanning, and develop an analytical representation of the spanning property. We construct a non-parametric test for spanning based on…

We develop non-parametric tests for prospect stochastic dominance Efficiency (PSDE) and Markowitz stochastic dominance efficiency (MSDE) using block bootstrap resampling. Under the appropriate conditions we show that they are asymptotically conservative and consistent. We employ Monte Carlo experiments to assess the finite sample size and power of the tests. We use the tests to empirically establish whether the value-weighted market portfolio is the best choice of every…
