This paper develops a smoothed generalized method of moments (GMM) framework for panel quantile models with individual-specific fixed-effects and endogenous regressors. By smoothing the indicator in the quantile moment conditions and profiling out the individual effects through smoothed individual quantile restrictions, the proposed estimator can be implemented using standard GMM algorithms. We establish consistency, asymptotic normality, and feasible inference under weak time dependence as both panel dimensions diverge. This dependence structure accommodates dynamic panel specifications, serially dependent disturbances, lagged instruments, and within-individual heteroskedasticity and autocorrelation consistent inference. Monte Carlo simulations show that the estimator is nearly unbiased under endogeneity and yields generally accurate inference while remaining computationally tractable. An application to OECD inflation dynamics suggests asymmetric inflation propagation: under the structural IVQR interpretation, the response of current inflation to lagged inflation is substantially larger at the lower structural quantile than at the upper structural quantile.

We develop a methodology for conducting inference on extreme quantiles of unobserved individual heterogeneity (e.g., heterogeneous coefficients and treatment effects) in panel data and meta-analysis settings. Inference is challenging in such settings: only noisy estimates of heterogeneity are available, and central limit approximations perform poorly in the tails. We derive a necessary and sufficient condition under which noisy estimates are informative about extreme…
P-CRE-DML:非线性面板数据因果推断的新方法
This paper introduces a novel Proxy-Enhanced Correlated Random Effects Double Machine Learning (P-CRE-DML) framework to estimate causal effects in panel data with non-linearities and unobserved heterogeneity. Combining Double Machine Learning (DML, Chernozhukov et al., 2018), Correlated Random Effects (CRE, Mundlak, 1978), and lagged variables (Arellano & Bond, 1991) and innovating within the CRE-DML framework (Chernozhukov et al., 2022; Clarke & Polselli, 2025; Fuhr &…
分位数面板模型的最小距离估计
We propose a minimum distance estimation approach for quantile panel data models where unit effects may be correlated with covariates. This computationally efficient method involves two stages: first, computing quantile regression within each unit, then applying GMM to the first-stage fitted values. Our estimators apply to (i) classical panel data, tracking units over time, and (ii) grouped data, where individual-level data are available, but treatment varies at the group…

This paper lays the groundwork for a unifying approach to stochastic dominance testing under survey nonresponse that integrates the partial identification approach to incomplete data and design-based inference for complex survey data. We propose a novel inference procedure for restricted $s$th-order stochastic dominance, tailored to accommodate a broad spectrum of nonresponse assumptions. The method uses pseudo-empirical likelihood to formulate the test statistic and…
纵向数据分析中的经验似然与分位数回归
We propose a novel quantile regression approach for longitudinal data analysis which naturally incorporates auxiliary information from the conditional mean model to account for within-subject correlations. The efficiency gain is quantified theoretically and demonstrated empirically via simulation studies and the analysis of a real dataset.

We consider the problem of testing for differences in group-specific slopes between the selected groups in panel data identified via k-means clustering. In this setting, the classical Wald-type test statistic is problematic because it produces an extremely inflated type I error probability. The underlying reason is that the same dataset is used to identify the group structure and construct the test statistic, simultaneously. This creates dependence between the selection and…
