Structural vector autoregressive (SVAR) models are widely used to analyze the simultaneous relationships between multiple time-dependent data. Various statistical inference methods have been studied to overcome the identification problems of SVAR models. However, most of these methods impose strong assumptions for innovation processes such as the uncorrelation of components. In this study, we relax the assumptions for innovation processes and propose an identification method for SVAR models under the zero-restrictions on the coefficient matrices, which correspond to sufficient conditions for LU decomposition of the coefficient matrices of the reduced form of the SVAR models. Moreover, we establish asymptotically normal estimators for the coefficient matrices and impulse responses, which enable us to construct test statistics for the simultaneous relationships of time-dependent data. The finite-sample performance of the proposed method is elucidated by numerical simulations. We also present an example of an empirical study that analyzes the impact of policy rates on unemployment and prices.

Local projections (LPs) have become a standard tool for estimating dynamic effects in macroeconomics and are typically implemented using ordinary least squares (OLS) for a given lag order. We propose an alternative approach that exploits additional lags as excluded instrumental variables (IVs). Under a finite-order model with martingale-difference shocks, the resulting (optimally weighted) IV estimator is never asymptotically less efficient than OLS and, as we show, can…
藤Copula VAR:从递归边际估计到联合预测推断
Joint-event forecasts often combine a dependence estimate based on past forecast errors with newly estimated marginal distributions. When each historical error retains the marginal fit available at its issue date, inference must account for an overlapping sequence of estimation errors. We derive their joint influence with the terminal forecast estimates in a stable Vine Copula VAR with normal innovation margins and a fixed, correctly specified Gaussian or positive Clayton…

This paper develops a daily structural VAR for identifying oil price shocks from conditional heteroskedasticity and quantifies the transmission of their timevarying uncertainty. Identification exploits volatility clustering and spillovers in a structural GARCH specification and the complete identified set is derived. We derive covariance impulse response functions and introduce a time-varying forecast error variance decomposition (TV-FEVD) that allows for a decomposition of…

In observational time series, statistical inference for dynamic causal effects of a one-time intervention across horizons is complicated by high-dimensional observed pre-treatment information, unmeasured confounding, and serial dependence. To address these challenges, we develop a semiparametric framework for inference from a single serially dependent time series, integrating debiased machine learning with instrumental variables through buffered block cross-fitting. Under…

We propose a dependent wild bootstrap method based on local projections for computing the joint asymptotic distribution of parameter estimates in structural vector autoregression models. This procedure can be applied to the raw data in levels without pretesting while remaining robust to unit roots, cointegration, polynomial trends, and conditionally heteroscedastic shocks in a general form. We show how knowledge of the joint asymptotic distribution in persistent data setups…
时间序列中的动态局部平均处理效应
This paper discusses identification, estimation, and inference on dynamic local average treatment effects (LATEs) in instrumental variables (IVs) settings. First, we show that compliers--observations whose treatment status is affected by the instrument--can be identified individually in time series data using smoothness assumptions and local comparisons of treatment assignments. Second, we show that this result enables not only better interpretability of IV estimates but…
