This article proposes a consistent and efficient estimator of the high-frequency covariance (quadratic covariation) of two arbitrary assets, observed asynchronously with market microstructure noise. This estimator is built on the marriage of the quasi–maximum likelihood estimator of the quadratic variation and the proposed generalized synchronization scheme and thus is not influenced by the Epps effect. Moreover, the estimation procedure is free of tuning parameters or bandwidths and is readily implementable. Monte Carlo simulations show the advantage of this estimator by comparing it with a variety of estimators with specific synchronization methods. The empirical studies of six foreign exchange future contracts illustrate the time-varying correlations of the currencies during the 2008 global financial crisis, demonstrating the similarities and differences in their roles as key currencies in the global market.
Bergomi 型波动率模型的拟极大似然估计方法
We propose a quasi maximum likelihood estimation method for Bergomi-type stochastic volatility models with parametrized kernels, focusing on the estimation of the kernel parameters from high-frequency time-series observations of option prices. We first show that the cumulative forward variance, which can be reconstructed from option prices, solves an infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equation driven by a one-dimensional Brownian motion under the Bergomi-type…

A novel statistical approach to estimating latency, defined as the time it takes to learn about an event and generate response to this event, is proposed. Our approach only requires a multidimensional point process describing event times, which circumvents the use of more detailed datasets which may not even be available. We consider the class of parametric Hawkes models capturing clustering effects and define latency as a known function of kernel parameters, typically the…

In this paper, we develop a robust non-parametric realized integrated beta estimator using high-frequency financial data contaminated by microstructure noise, which is robust to the stylized features, such as the time-varying beta and the price-dependent and autocorrelated microstructure noise. With this robust realized integrated beta estimator, we investigate dynamic structures of integrated betas and find a persistent autoregressive structure. To model this dynamic…

We propose a dynamic semiparametric framework to study time variation in tail parameters. The framework builds on the Generalized Pareto Distribution (GPD) for modeling peaks over thresholds as in Extreme Value Theory, but casts the model in a conditional framework to allow for time-variation in the tail parameters. We establish parameter regions for stationarity and ergodicity and for the existence of (unconditional) moments and consider conditions for consistency and…
参数化分位数自回归条件持续期模型及日内风险价值应用
The modeling of high-frequency data that qualify financial asset transactions has been an area of relevant interest among statisticians and econometricians -- above all, the analysis of time series of financial durations. Autoregressive conditional duration (ACD) models have been the main tool for modeling financial transaction data, where duration is usually defined as the time interval between two successive events. These models are usually specified in terms of a…

This paper introduces a unified parametric modeling approach for time-varying market betas that can accommodate continuous-time diffusion and discrete-time series models based on a continuous-time series regression model to better capture the dynamic evolution of market betas. We call this the dynamic realized beta (DR Beta). We first develop a non-parametric realized integrated beta estimator using high-frequency financial data contaminated by microstructure noises, which…
