The central problem we address in this work is estimation of the parameter support set S, the set of indices corresponding to nonzero parameters, in the context of a sparse parametric likelihood model for discrete multivariate time series. We develop an algorithm that performs the estimation by aggregating support sets obtained by applying the LASSO to data subsamples. Our approach is to identify several candidate models and estimate S by selecting common parameters, thus "aggregating" candidate models. While our method is broadly applicable to any selection problem, we focus on the generalized vector autoregressive (GVAR) model class, and particularly the Poisson case, emphasizing applications in network recovery from discrete multivariate time series. We propose benchmark methods based on the LASSO, develop simulation strategies for GVAR processes, and present empirical results demonstrating the superior performance of our method. Additionally, we present an application estimating ecological interaction networks from paleoclimatology data.

High-dimensional multivariate time series are common in many scientific and industrial applications, where the interest lies in identifying key dependence structure within the data for subsequent analysis tasks, such as forecasting. An important avenue to achieve this is through the estimation of the conditional independence graph via graphical models, although for time series data settings the underpinning temporal dependence can make this task challenging. In this article,…

We propose a novel framework for Network Stochastic Differential Equations (N-SDE), where each node in a network is governed by an SDE influenced by interactions with its neighbors. The evolution of each node is driven by the interplay of three key components: the node's intrinsic dynamics (\emph{momentum effect}), feedback from neighboring nodes (\emph{network effect}), and a \emph{stochastic volatility} term modeled by Brownian motion. Our primary objective is to estimate…

Modeling responses on the nodes of a large-scale network is an important task that arises commonly in practice. This paper proposes a community network vector autoregressive (CNAR) model, which utilizes the network structure to characterize the dependence and intra-community homogeneity of the high-dimensional time series. The CNAR model greatly increases the flexibility and generality of the network vector autoregressive (NAR) model proposed by Zhu et al. (2017) by allowing…

We consider a new class of spatio-temporal models with sparse autoregressive coefficient matrices and exogenous variable. To estimate the model, we first profile the exogenous variable out of the response. This leads to a profiled model structure. Next, to overcome endogeneity issue, we propose a class of generalized methods of moment (GMM) estimators to estimate the autoregressive coefficient matrices. A novel bagging-based estimator is further developed to conquer the…

网络向量自回归
We consider here a large-scale social network with a continuous response observed for each node at equally spaced time points. The responses from different nodes constitute an ultra-high dimensional vector, whose time series dynamic is to be investigated. In addition, the network structure is also taken into consideration, for which we propose a network vector autoregressive (NAR) model. The NAR model assumes each node’s response at a given time point as a linear combination…
