stochastic volatility models for analyzing financial time series. Recent advances made it possible to fit stochastic volatility models of increasing complexity, including covariates, leverage effects, jump components, and heavy-tailed distributions. However, a formal model comparison via Bayes factors remains difficult. The main objective of this article is to demonstrate that model selection is more easily performed using the deviance information criterion (DIC). It combines a Bayesian measure of fit with a measure of model complexity. We illustrate the performance of DIC in discriminating between various different stochastic volatility models using simulated data and daily returns data on the Standard & Poor's (S&P) 100 index.
重叠多步预测的贝叶斯协调:跨预测起点一致性的后处理框架
Multi-step forecasting systems, including modern artificial intelligence (AI) models, often issue overlapping predictions for the same future time from different forecast origins. These predictions can disagree even when produced by the same model, a phenomenon we call cross-origin incoherence. We propose a Bayesian reconciliation framework that treats overlapping forecasts as noisy and potentially biased measurements of a common latent trajectory. The method operates as a…
We tackle the issue of producing point, sign, and density forecasts for the monthly real price of carbon in the European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). We show that Bayesian Vector Autoregressive (BVAR) models augmented with factors based on macroeconomic and financial variables yield improvements in point and density forecasting performance, with the largest point-forecast gains emerging at intermediate and longer horizons. In particular, the one-factor BVAR model…
用收缩先验建模动态相关矩阵
Estimating time-varying correlation matrices is challenging because existing methods may adapt slowly to structural changes, impose insufficient regularization, or produce diffuse posterior uncertainty. In moderate dimensions, an additional difficulty is summarizing the estimated evolving dependence structure for downstream decision-making tasks. We propose a Bayesian approach based on a low-rank factor representation, with latent states evolving under a dynamic shrinkage…
边际可能误设的 Copula 模型的贝叶斯模块化推断
Copula models of multivariate data are popular because they allow separate specification of marginal distributions and the copula function. These components can be treated as inter-related modules in a modified Bayesian inference approach called ''cutting feedback'' that is robust to their misspecification. Recent work uses a two module approach, where all $d$ marginals form a single module, to robustify inference for the marginals against copula function misspecification,…
适用于多资产的计算高效多元波动率模型
This paper develops a flexible and computationally efficient multivariate volatility model that accommodates dynamic conditional correlations and volatility spillover effects among financial assets. The new model has desirable properties such as identifiability and computational tractability for many assets.A sufficient condition for strict stationarity is derived for the process. Two quasi-maximum likelihood estimation methods are proposed for the new model without and with…
随机波动率管理组合的灵活变分近似
This paper investigates volatility-managed portfolios through a variational Bayes approach that smooths stochastic volatility forecasts. Our algorithm exhibits competitive performance relative to established methods both in terms of inferential accuracy and computational efficiency. Analyzing equity factors and characteristic-based portfolios, we show that smoothing reduces excess leverage and turnover, significantly improving risk-adjusted returns after transaction costs.…
