We propose a Markov Switching Graphical Seemingly Unrelated Regression (MS-GSUR) model to investigate time-varying systemic risk based on a range of multi-factor asset pricing models. Methodologically, we develop a Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) scheme in which latent states are identified on the basis of a novel weighted eigenvector centrality measure. An empirical application to the constituents of the S&P100 index shows that cross-firm connectivity significantly increased over the period 1999–2003 and during the financial crisis in 2008–2009. Finally, we provide evidence that firm-level centrality does not correlate with market values and it is instead positively linked to realized financial losses.
MarketGAN:利用生成对抗网络增强多变量金融时间序列数据
This paper introduces MarketGAN, a factor-based generative framework for high-dimensional asset return generation under severe data scarcity. We embed an explicit asset-pricing factor structure as an economic inductive bias and generate returns as a single joint vector, thereby preserving cross-sectional dependence and tail co-movement alongside inter-temporal dynamics. MarketGAN employs generative adversarial learning with a temporal convolutional network (TCN) backbone,…

ABSTRACT We evaluate the roles of upstream (supplier‐to‐user), downstream (user‐to‐supplier), and common factor shock transmission across firms by deriving interfirm networks and common factors from US equities over 1989–2017. We overcome the econometric challenges of estimating the large factor‐augmented vector autoregressive (FAVAR) system by developing two alternative approaches: one prioritizing computational efficiency and the other providing the full posterior…
含共同因子的动态时空与网络 ARCH 模型
We introduce a dynamic spatiotemporal volatility model that extends traditional approaches by incorporating spatial, temporal, and spatiotemporal spillover effects, along with volatility-specific observed and latent factors. The model offers a more general network interpretation, making it applicable for studying various types of network spillovers. The primary innovation lies in incorporating volatility-specific latent factors into the dynamic spatiotemporal volatility…

We characterize the U.S. interbank liquidity risk network based on a supervisory dataset, using a scenario-based quantile network connectedness approach. In terms of methodology, we consider a quantile vector autoregressive model with unobserved heterogeneity and propose a Bayesian nuclear norm estimation method. A common factor structure is employed to deal with unobserved heterogeneity that may exhibit endogeneity within the network. Then we develop a scenario-based…
高维因子随机波动模型中的杠杆效应、非对称性与厚尾
We develop a factor stochastic volatility model that incorporates leverage effects, return asymmetry, and heavy tails across all systematic and idiosyncratic model components. Our model leads to a flexible high-dimensional dependence structure that allows for time-varying correlations, tail dependence, and volatility response to both systematic and idiosyncratic return shocks. We develop an efficient Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm for posterior estimation based on the…
通过风险因子映射高效估计高维动态协方差:金融风险管理应用
This paper aims to explore a modified method of high-dimensional dynamic variance–covariance matrix estimation via risk factor mapping, which can yield a dependence estimation of asset returns within a large portfolio with high computational efficiency. The essence of our methodology is to express the time-varying dependence of high-dimensional return variables using the co-movement concept of returns with respect to risk factors. A novelty of the proposed methodology is to…
