We employ a Bayesian modelling technique for high dimensional cointegration estimation to construct low volatility portfolios from a large number of stocks. The proposed Bayesian framework effectively identifies sparse and important cointegration relationships amongst large baskets of stocks across various asset spaces, resulting in portfolios with reduced volatility. Such cointegration relationships persist well over the out-of-sample testing time, providing practical benefits in portfolio construction and optimization. Further studies on drawdown and volatility minimization also highlight the benefits of including cointegrated portfolios as risk management instruments.

Generative Bayesian Filtering (GBF) provides a powerful and flexible framework for performing posterior inference in complex nonlinear and non-Gaussian state-space models. Our approach extends Generative Bayesian Computation (GBC) to dynamic settings, enabling recursive posterior inference using simulation-based methods powered by deep neural networks. GBF does not require explicit density evaluations, making it particularly effective when observation or transition…

Modeling high-dimensional time series with simple structures is a challenging problem. This paper proposes a network double autoregression (NDAR) model, which combines the advantages of network structure and the double autoregression (DAR) model, to handle high-dimensional, conditionally heteroscedastic, and network-structured data within a simple framework. The parameters of the model are estimated using quasi-maximum likelihood estimation, and the asymptotic properties of…

Estimating time-varying correlation matrices is challenging because existing methods may adapt slowly to structural changes, impose insufficient regularization, or produce diffuse posterior uncertainty. In moderate dimensions, an additional difficulty is summarizing the estimated evolving dependence structure for downstream decision-making tasks. We propose a Bayesian approach based on a low-rank factor representation, with latent states evolving under a dynamic shrinkage…

Modeling the time-varying covariance structures of high-dimensional variables is critical across diverse scientific and industrial applications; however, existing approaches exhibit notable limitations in either modeling flexibility or inferential efficiency. For instance, change-point modeling fails to account for the continuous time-varying nature of covariance structures, while GARCH and stochastic volatility models suffer from over-parameterization and the risk of…

Two recent contributions have found conditions for large dimensional networks or systems to generate long memory in their individual components. We build on these and provide a multivariate methodology for modeling and forecasting series displaying long range dependence. We model long memory properties within a vector autoregressive system of order 1 and consider Bayesian estimation or ridge regression. For these, we derive a theory-driven parametric setting that informs a…

State–space models are commonly used in the engineering, economic, and statistical literature. They are flexible and encompass many well-known statistical models, including random coefficient autoregressive models and dynamic factor models. Bayesian analysis of state–space models has attracted much interest in recent years. However, for large scale models, prior specification becomes a challenging issue in Bayesian inference. In this paper, we propose a flexible prior for…
