Summary The mixed logit model is widely used in applied econometrics. Researchers typically rely on the free choice between the classical and Bayesian estimation approach. However, empirical evidence of the similarity of their parameter estimates is sparse. The presumed similarity is mainly based on one empirical study that analyzes a single dataset (Huber J, Train KE. 2001. On the similarity of classical and Bayesian estimates of individual mean partworths. Marketing Letters 12 (3): 259–269). Our replication study offers a generalization of their results by comparing classical and Bayesian parameter estimates from six additional datasets and specifically for panel versus cross‐sectional data. In general, our results suggest that the two methods provide similar results, with less similarity for cross‐sectional data than for panel data. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
随机考虑集多项响应模型的可扩展估计
A common assumption in the fitting of unordered multinomial response models for $J$ mutually exclusive categories is that the responses arise from the same set of $J$ categories across subjects. However, when responses measure a choice made by the subject, it is more appropriate to condition the distribution of multinomial responses on a subject-specific consideration set, drawn from the power set of $\{1,2,\ldots,J\}$. This leads to a mixture of multinomial response models…

极端协变量下的二元结果模型:估计与预测
This paper presents a novel semiparametric method to study the effects of extreme events on binary outcomes and subsequently forecast future outcomes. Our approach, based on Bayes' theorem and regularly varying (RV) functions, facilitates a Pareto approximation in the tail without imposing parametric assumptions beyond the tail. We analyze cross-sectional as well as static and dynamic panel data models, incorporate additional covariates, and accommodate the unobserved…
多重重复测量的多变量有序回归
In this paper we propose a multivariate ordinal regression model which allows the joint modeling of three-dimensional panel data containing both repeated and multiple measurements for a collection of subjects. This is achieved by a multivariate autoregressive structure on the errors of the latent variables underlying the ordinal responses, where we distinguish between the correlations at a single point in time and the persistence over time. The error distribution is assumed…

Summary This paper proposes a Bayesian estimation framework for panel data sets with binary dependent variables where a large number of cross‐sectional units are observed over a short period of time and cross‐sectional units are interdependent in more than a single network domain. The latter provides for a substantial degree of flexibility towards modeling the decay function in network neighborliness (e.g., by disentangling the importance of rings of neighbors) or towards…
含未观测异质性的大规模面板选择模型:贝叶斯与极大似然分析
This paper considers the estimation and inference procedures for the case of a logistic panel regression model with interactive fixed effects, where multiple individual effects are allowed and the model is capable of capturing high-dimensional cross-section dependence. The proposed model also allows for heterogeneous regression coefficients. New Bayesian and non-Bayesian approaches are introduced to estimate the model parameters. We investigate the asymptotic behaviors of…
