Precision medicine aims to optimize treatment by identifying patient subgroups most likely to benefit from specific interventions. To support this goal, we introduce fkbma, an R package that implements a Bayesian model averaging approach with free-knot B-splines for identifying tailoring variables. The package employs a reversible jump Markov chain Monte Carlo algorithm to flexibly model treatment effect heterogeneity while accounting for uncertainty in both variable selection and non-linear relationships. fkbma provides a comprehensive framework for detecting predictive biomarkers, integrating Bayesian adaptive enrichment strategies, and enabling robust subgroup identification in clinical trials and observational studies. This paper details the statistical methodology underlying fkbma, outlines its computational implementation, and demonstrates its application through simulations and real-world examples. The package's flexibility makes it a valuable tool for precision medicine research, offering a principled approach to treatment personalization.
We propose a Bayesian nonparametric instrumental variable approach under additive separability that allows us to correct for endogeneity bias in regression models where the covariate effects enter with unknown functional form. Bias correction relies on a simultaneous equations specification with flexible modeling of the joint error distribution implemented via a Dirichlet process mixture prior. Both the structural and instrumental variable equation are specified in terms of…
A platform trial is an innovative clinical trial design that enables simultaneous and continuous evaluation of multiple treatments within a single master protocol. Existing robust methods restrict analyses to concurrently randomized participants due to concerns that including nonconcurrent data may introduce bias from temporal trends. However, this exclusion represents a missed opportunity to improve efficiency. We propose a Gaussian process framework for incorporating…
We propose a novel procedure for estimating and conducting inference on average marginal effects in partially linear instrumental regressions using Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space methods. Our procedure relies on a single regularization parameter. We obtain the consistency and asymptotic normality of our estimator. Since the variance of the limiting distribution has a complex analytical form, we propose a Bayesian bootstrap method to conduct inference and establish its…

We adapt Gaussian processes for estimating the average dose-response function in observational settings, introducing a powerful complement to treatment effect estimation for understanding heterogeneous effects. We incorporate samples from a Gaussian process posterior for the propensity score into a Gaussian process response model using Girard's approach to integrating over uncertainty in training data. We show Girard's method admits a positive-definite kernel, and provide…
When estimating the average treatment effect of a binary intervention with weights, investigators are often burdened with how best to leave imbalance in the distributions of observed covariates. This requires that investigators proceed cautiously, as imbalance in key (nonlinear transformations of) covariates potentially introduces bias into the ultimate estimated effect. This paper introduces Targeted Function Balancing (TFB), a flexible covariate balancing weights approach…
Many studies expose units to several binary treatments at once and record several correlated outcomes, yet analysts usually estimate one treatment's average effect on one outcome at a time -- discarding how treatments interact and how their effects vary across units. We introduce the factorial multivariate Bayesian causal forest, a Bayesian nonparametric model that decomposes the factorial response surface over the treatment lattice into a prognostic sum-of-trees plus one…
